Full course description

Beginning with an overview of different types of nonprofits along with their legal aspects and economic impacts, you will then dive into core organizational elements like board governance and leadership styles specific to the nonprofit context. Other topics covered include financial management aspects like funding sources, fundraising strategies, and program development/evaluation.

Completing this course will help you be able to:

  1. Describe the process of forming an incorporated nonprofit organization.
  2. Identify and describe important issues and challenges in non-profit management, including legal and ethical issues, accountability and performance evaluation, and the increasing involvement of the private sector.
  3. Apply theories, processes and best practices related to human resource management, board governance, and volunteer management.
